Grapevine is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area (DFW). Grapevine, Texas was awarded All-America City status by the National Civic League in 2009. The population was 30,819 according to the 2010 census.
Grapevine is located 18 miles (29 km) west of Dallas, Texas, and 24 miles (39 km) north of Fort Worth.
Grapevine, originally named “Grape Vine,” was founded in 1847 when William Bennett Plummer conveyed the property to the Houston and Texas Central Railroad for a depot and section house. The first post office officially opened under Grape Vine on April 29, 1859, with Plummer serving as Postmaster. In 1895 the name of the city was changed to Grapevine.
